Today we will introduce 『The Glass Flowers』 to you. 

This unique collection of over 3,000 models was created by glass artisans Leopold Blaschka and his son, Rudolph. 

w：『Are they really glass?』

V：『是啊，模型本身全是玻璃做的，但模型內部往往用鐵絲支撐。』

w：『Who made the Glass Flowers?』

V：『兩位精通玻璃工藝的博物學家(father and son Leopold and Rudolph Blaschka)，共製造了4,400件模型。』

w：『How were the models made?』

V：『花的局部通常是在玻璃加熱變軟後塑成的，有些則是吹出來的。許多玻璃花是用彩色玻璃做的，有的顏色外是通過上琺瑯彩的辦法，在將溶有彩色玻璃或金屬氧化物的液體薄薄地塗在玻璃花上之後，加熱融合而成的！』『早期的玻璃輂模型，是用普通的顏料直接上著色的。』

w：『When were they made?』

V：『大約是1886-1936』

w：『Where were the Glass Flowers made?』

V：『工作坊位於德國Hosterwitz』

w：『Why were the models made?』

V：『當初是為了植物學課程的需求。因為當時只有粗糙的紙模型和臘模型可用，而哈佛植物學博物館創辦人想要栩栩如生的植物模型。這些大小如實的模型超過800種唷，包括精確度驚人的剖視圖局部和放大的植物部件。因為玻璃花永遠處在盛開的狀態，所以一年四季均可對熱帶植物和溫帶植物進行研究。』

後記：Mrs. Elizabeth C. Ware and her daughter Mary Lee Ware financed the collection and presented it to Harvard University as a memorial to Dr. Charles Eliot Ware, Class of 1834.
